The Rotary Club of Drogheda's annual memorial tree has been a regular sight in Drogheda over the past number of years, and this year it is set to run over six days, on Monday the 16th of December to Wednesday the 18th of December, and Sunday the 22nd of December right through to Christmas Eve.

The Memorial Tree will be operating from three locations; the spectacular Christmas tree outside St. Peter's Church on West St., Tesco Extra on the Donore Rd., and in the Laurence Town Centre outside M&S.

"The idea behind the memorial tree is that people can remember loved ones who have passed away by writing a message on a memorial card, and we will attach the card to a yellow ribbon on the tree", said Richard Schmidt, President of Drogheda Rotary Club. "The person can then give a donation of any amount they choose, and these donations will then go towards local charitable services in our town; Rotary's Meals on Wheels  Service, and Drogheda Youth Development's Boomerang Cafe.

If you are from Drogheda and are now living further afield, or if you would just like to make a donation by credit card or laser, you can do so online by clicking the donate link at the top of this page. You can leave a message in the message section, and we will transfer that message to a memorial card, and place it on a yellow ribbon on the Memorial Tree for you.

The Rotary Club of Drogheda meet every Monday in the Westcourt Hotel. The Club has nearly 50 members who meet over lunch to discuss various charitable and fundraising initiatives and other Rotary business.

"One of the biggest Rotary projects is Meals on Wheels, which we have operated in Drogheda for the last 43 years. We provide over 60 hot nutritious meals and tasty deserts three times a week to the elderly and incapacitated in our local communities", Richard said.
